Bereavement is the process of adjusting to life without our loved one. The process is different for everyone and may affect our thoughts and feelings for months or even years. Sometimes it can affect us physically in ways that are difficult to understand.

Bonner General Health offers:

  • Classes
  • Support Groups
  • Individual Counseling
  • Community

What: An accepting conversation within a group setting, sharing experiences of loss.  This group is open to anyone who has gone through losing a loved one, whether it be a spouse, partner, parent, child, sibling, or other family member or friend.  Facilitator Peter Gilmore relies on the group’s wisdom rather than coming with a prepared agenda, allowing the conversation to flow from the needs of those present.  All information shared in the group setting is confidential to promote an environment of trust.  The group size is small, usually between 6-10 members.

No cost to residents of Bonner and Boundary Counties.

What:  The loss of a loved one is a traumatic event that brings out strong feelings and responses as we struggle to adjust to our forever altered lives.  Friends and relatives are often challenged to support us when we need them most, as they may not know what to do.  Everyone wants us to “be over it now,” – so where can we turn?

This coping with grief group, sponsored by Bonner General Community Hospice, provides an opportunity to learn about grief and how to adapt to it, identify goals and personal strengths to help participants cope, and even discover unsought gifts and opportunities for growth from the loss.  It is also a safe space to share your grief experiences, thoughts, and feelings with others going through the loss of another person through death.

When:  Call Hospice (208) 265-1179 or check back for updates.

Contact:  For more information or to register, contact Norma Reed (208) 265-4442 or Carla Dedera (208) 290-8028.

*Unfortunately, there will be no Kid’s Camp in 2022. Please call Hospice at (208) 265 1179 or check back for updates.

This camp provides children with the tools to cope with the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling, or close friend. Held in June, this three-day camp is facilitated by trained hospice volunteers. Call (208) 265-1179 for an application and to reserve your spot.

Bonner Community Hospice is your resource for books containing information about death, dying, and bereavement.  Please visit the library in our office, located at 520 N Third Avenue, inside the hospital, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

It may be helpful to speak to someone about our feelings and sort through issues associated with the adjustment to our loss. Bonner General Health Community Hospice offers several types of bereavement support and services suitable to the needs of each individual. Learning how to cope with that loss is imperative for the health of the grieving family and friends.

Bonner General Community Hospice offers classes, support groups, and individual counseling to help with the grieving process.
